What is a foster family?
Being a foster family means taking care of one or more cats waiting to be adopted on a voluntary basis, in the comfort of your own home. This transition is very beneficial for cats who have experienced trauma such as abuse or wandering.
Being in a foster family allows them to regain confidence in people and to re-socialize. It also helps us to know their behavior and thus find the “perfect match” with the ideal adoptive family!
Cats placed in foster care are there for an indefinite period: until their adoption or until they are ready to be placed at Café Chato.
Cats placed in foster care are often placed in special cases such as:
• Cats that must eat special food;
• Pregnant female;
• Female with kittens;
• Kittens 12 weeks and under;
• IVF cats;
• Aged cats;
• Injured and recovering cats;
• Cats that need to be socialized.

What does a foster family do?
When you become a foster family, you agree to pay for food, bedding and accessories (toys, scratchers, etc.). Veterinary costs and medicine are fully covered by Refuge Animex

It is the responsibility of the foster family to have and keep up to date the vaccination follow-ups of their personal cat (s).
The host family must inform the Refuge Animex of any medical condition of their personal cats before accepting the entry of one or more cats from Refuge Animex and, throughout the duration of the stay of the cat (s) from Refuge Animex in their home. In no case can Refuge Animex can not be held responsible for the spread of an infectious disease and / or other parasites that the veterinary examination would not have detected in the cat (s) that we entrusted to you.
